Ready for another µField Day?
Back in May, we had an amazing time joining up with the CSUCI Amateur
Radio Club for a µField Day on campus, and actually had 16 HF stations
set up with over 40 visitors. We took June off (I seem to recall there
were several alternative remote operating events to choose from!) and
in July, we had over 30 people come by Rancho Potrero for one of our
regular parking lot events. We had members of SSARC, LVARC, VCARC, CVARC and VCARS in attendance.
Saturday, August 13th, at 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. is another special
event. We’ve been invited by the Lake Sherwood Homeowners Association to use Maid Marian Park, right on the lake, and CVARC is putting the event
on with us. Every ham in the county is invited, any club, no club,
everybody. In addition to being a good chance to play with radios, it’ll
be a good opportunity to meet members of other clubs.
After CVARC held Field Day at the Sherwood Development Corp’s site on
Potrero Road, Gary 2 KM6DMM and the Homeowners Association extended an invitation to the BORED Net to hold our monthly µFD at Maid Marian Park, and together with CVARC we’re doing just that. There’s parking, a large
lawn for tripods or masts, several large trees for antennas, and plenty
of shade, and say nothing of being right on the water. There will
probably be 120v power available, but bring power if you can; keeps it
simple. There’s even fishing available (ask ahead of time; Gary has a
couple of permits for us to use.)
Again, this is inside the club, right on the water, not at the usual
CVARC Field Day site. Take Potrero Road to Stafford Road, and turn south
to enter the country club and drive a few hundred feet to the main gate.
After passing the gate, immediately turn left to stay on Stafford, then
take the first left again on Lower Lake Rd. Look for the grass area to
the left and turn left into the parking lot. Or use GPS coordinates
34.18368, -118.89094. If you know about what3words.com, it’s
searches.modest.acrobat.
This is a closed country club, so we need to have a list for the gate to
let people in. Send Keith an email with your name and any guests you are
bringing to keith@w6kme.org, or call me at 805-208-5655. We can still
get you in the gate Saturday morning if you aren’t on the list, but this
is easiest.
I hope to see many of you there!
